Baked Butternut Squash Simple (Print-Friendly Format)

Butternut squash halves roasted until tender, served with butter and a touch of salt and pepper.

# Ingredients You’ll Need:

01 - 1 large butternut squash, halved lengthwise and seeded
02 - 15 grams unsalted butter, cut into pieces
03 - Salt, to taste
04 - Ground black pepper, to taste
05 - 470 millilitres water

# How to Make It:

01 - Preheat the oven to 175°C. Gather all ingredients and halve the butternut squash lengthwise. Remove seeds.
02 - Arrange squash halves, cut-side down, in a 23 x 33 cm baking dish. Pour water into the dish around the squash halves.
03 - Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for approximately 90 minutes, or until the squash is very tender when pierced with a fork. Add additional water if necessary to prevent the dish from drying out.
04 - Remove dish from the oven. Carefully transfer each squash half to a plate, cut-side up. Top each half with pieces of butter and season generously with salt and ground black pepper. Serve immediately.

# Extra Tips:

01 - For a smoother texture, scoop out the flesh after baking and mash before serving.
02 - This preparation is ideal as a side dish but can also be used in purees or soups.
