Preheat oven to 232°C.

In a small bowl, combine olive oil, kosher salt, black pepper, minced garlic, chopped rosemary, and chopped thyme to form a paste.

Evenly rub seasoning mixture over the entire surface of the prime rib roast.

Place the seasoned roast bone-side down onto a roasting pan fitted with a rack.

Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes to develop a crust.

Lower oven temperature to 163°C and continue roasting until internal temperature reaches 54°C for medium-rare (approximately 90–120 minutes).

Remove roast from oven and let it rest, uncovered, for a minimum of 20 minutes before carving to allow juices to redistribute.
