Heat oven to 190°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

Slice cabbage into 1.25 cm rounds. Brush both sides of each slice with olive oil and arrange on the prepared baking sheet.

In a large bowl, combine ground beef or turkey, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and egg if using. Mix thoroughly until ingredients are evenly incorporated.

Portion the meat mixture and press evenly onto each cabbage slice, shaping to fit the surface.

Place sheet in oven and bake for 25 minutes until the patties are cooked through.

Remove from oven and sprinkle shredded cheese atop each burger. Broil for 3–5 minutes until the cheese is melted and lightly golden.

Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve immediately with sour cream, mustard, or preferred dipping sauce.
