Place each potato between two chopsticks or the handles of wooden spoons to prevent slicing through completely. Cut vertical slits approximately 3 mm apart across each potato, stopping before reaching the bottom.

In a small bowl, combine salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.

Brush half of the melted butter over the potatoes, ensuring to coat inside the slits. Sprinkle with half of the seasoning mixture.

Place potatoes on a baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove potatoes from the oven. Using a knife, gently separate the potato layers. Brush the remaining butter over the potatoes.

Return potatoes to the oven and bake for an additional 30 minutes. Sprinkle with the remaining seasoning mixture before serving.
