Baked Feta Fig Pecans (Print Version)

Feta cheese meets fig preserves and toasted pecans in this inviting, flavor-packed appetizer.

# Ingredients:

→ Cheese and Dairy

01 - 400 to 450 g block feta cheese

→ Oils and Seasonings

02 - 3 tablespoons avocado oil
03 - 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano or dried parsley
04 - 1 pinch ground black pepper

→ Nuts and Preserves

05 - 120 ml fig preserves
06 - 60 g raw pecans, chopped
07 - 0.5 teaspoon fresh thyme, optional

# Steps:

01 - Preheat the oven to 200°C.
02 - Add chopped pecans to a small skillet and heat over medium, stirring occasionally until toasted and fragrant, about 1 to 3 minutes. Transfer pecans to a mixing bowl once golden.
03 - Combine the toasted pecans with the fig preserves in the mixing bowl and stir to thoroughly coat the nuts.
04 - Remove feta cheese from packaging and arrange in a small oven-safe baking dish. Drizzle with avocado oil. Sprinkle with dried oregano (or parsley) and freshly ground black pepper.
05 - Bake the seasoned feta on the center rack for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the cheese becomes lightly golden.
06 - Reduce oven temperature to 175°C. Transfer baked feta to the serving dish. Use a spoon to stir feta gently until creamy.
07 - Spoon the fig and pecan mixture evenly over the feta. Return dish to oven and bake for an additional 12 to 17 minutes, until topping is heated and cheese is bubbling.
08 - Remove from oven and place dish on a heatproof trivet or towel. Sprinkle with fresh thyme if using. Serve immediately with toasted baguette, pita bread, or crackers.

# Notes:

01 - Ensure the serving dish is heat-resistant, as the cheese remains hot and bubbly.
02 - For added flavor variation, substitute fig preserves with apricot or berry preserves, and replace pecans with walnuts or almonds as desired.
