Apple Maple Chicken Skillet (Print Version)

Juicy chicken simmered with apples and maple syrup for a sweet, savory, and satisfying main course.

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 680 grams boneless, skinless chicken breasts
02 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
03 - 2 medium apples, cored and sliced (approximately 240 grams)
04 - 60 millilitres pure maple syrup
05 - 120 millilitres chicken broth
06 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
07 - 0.5 teaspoon salt
08 - 0.25 teaspoon ground black pepper

→ Optional Finishing Touch

09 - 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
10 - 1 sprig fresh thyme

# Steps:

01 - Pat chicken breasts dry and season both sides with salt and black pepper.
02 - Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the chicken breasts in the skillet and cook for 5–6 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked. Transfer chicken to a plate and set aside.
03 - In the same skillet, add sliced apples and cook for 2–3 minutes over medium heat until they begin to soften.
04 - Pour in the maple syrup and chicken broth, then sprinkle ground cinnamon into the pan. Stir gently and let the mixture simmer for 2 minutes to combine the flavours.
05 - Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet, nestling them among the apples. Allow everything to cook for an additional 5–7 minutes on medium-low heat until the sauce thickens slightly and flavours meld.
06 - Just before serving, drizzle fresh lemon juice over the chicken for brightness, if desired. Garnish with thyme sprigs and serve warm on a platter.

# Notes:

01 - Adjust the amount of maple syrup for your preferred level of sweetness.
02 - Serve with roasted vegetables or rice for a balanced meal.
03 - Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
